Hannah Dornbusch, MA, LMHC, NCC
I graduated from Antioch University with a masters degree in counseling. I am currently a LMHC in the state of Washington. Some of my previous work experience includes: AmeriCorps, non-profits, and community mental health work.
I would consider my therapeutic approach to be direct and compassionate. I seek to understand a client's experience while helping them stay on track with goals, and navigate their own defense mechanisms.
I am allied with the LGBTQIA community and I always hold deep consideration for the impact of culture, gender and class with each client. We will work together to explore treatment goals that best fit your unique needs.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR VISIT
I implement effective psychotherapy methods such as EMDR, sensorimotor psychotherapy, the Gottman method, and CBT, to instill self-understanding among patients and encourage new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that therapy is not a magic pill or a quick fix: therapy is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient.
I am trained in EMDR and enjoy working with adults, teens, and couples. The therapeutic lens that I commonly work from is called attachment focus. It allows an understanding of how a client learned to behave, attach, and have needs met. By using this approach, there is a greater understanding of current “maladaptive” coping strategies that may be interfering with daily life (relationships, work, etc). Together, we walk through the process of rediscovering what you want, healing past wounds that interfere with your current life, and how to learn new adaptive strategies that align more with who you want to be.
OVERVIEW OF THERAPIES WE MAY USE
(EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING)
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to help your brain process and move through distressing memories/events. The effects of this therapy are astounding and many people have found complete remission from issues they have been working on for years in talk therapy. To learn more, click the link below!
Attachment-based therapy aims to look at how we learned to survive and create connection in the world. As humans, we are wired for connection, but early on in life, there may have been ways that we learned to create bonds that are currently interfering with relationships/getting needs met. If there is ample abandonment, neglect, criticism, or detachment in a child's life, they may experience the effects of this in their adult life. To learn more, click the link.
Sensorimotor psychotherapy is a therapy that focuses on both somatic responses and cognitive responses. By understanding how our bodies store trauma, we are more able to access and process this information. For more information, click the link below!
BILLING AND PRICING
My fee for individual and couples therapy is $160 per session and $185 for an intake session. I offer free initial consultation via phone or video.
If you wish to use insurance, I will provide a super bill to you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. A super bill is a detailed invoice outlining the services a client receives. The client submits the super bill directly to the insurer, giving the insurer all the information they need to reimburse the client.
All clients are directly responsible for their fees, and will be billed after each session. It is a client's sole responsibility to submit a super bill to their insurance for reimbursement.
Please reach out to me at:
if you wish to discuss any of these options in more detail.
I am currently offering a limited number of sliding scale options.
